SCAM ALERT: Be very careful if your phone suddenly stops working or you get messages about changes you didn’t make — it could be a scam called SIM swapping, where criminals steal your phone number (through phishing, social media, or data breaches) and gain access to your bank accounts by contacting your mobile carrier's customer service, claiming your phone is lost or damaged, and requesting your phone number be transferred to a new SIM card they control. If this happens to you, please contact your phone company and the bank right away.
