Room Use Policies for Community Room

Room Use Policies for Community Room

The Community Room, located in our 215 Canal St branch in Lawrence, MA, is available for community members to use at no charge for meetings, seminars, and other public events. We ask that all guests respect these rules in order to keep this a positive space for everyone in the community. If you have any questions about these policies or reserving the Community Room in general, please email Maria Laboy.

Eligibility

The room is available primarily for non-profit, civic, cultural, or educational purposes. This aligns with the practice of encouraging community groups to utilize such spaces for meetings when not in use for primary activities.

Reservation Guidelines

The Community Room is available to reserve on a first-come-first-serve basis. At least 48 hours notice is required for all room reservations. Requesting to reserve the room does not guarantee your reservation; once we review the request, we will be in contact to let you know if your reservation is confirmed. NOTE: Due to staffing needs, any events taking place outside of bank hours will require additional approvals and processing time.

Responsibilities

Water can be provided upon request with one week's notice.
Users will be responsible for all aspects of room setup, including AV setup and management, guest management, and cleanup. Wall decoration is not permitted in order to protect our walls and mural.

Cancellation

Reading Cooperative Bank reserves the right to refuse, cancel, or reschedule room reservations for any reason. We will always aim to give as much advance notice as possible in these situations.

Restrictions

The Community Room cannot be used for the following types of events:

  • Private social events (e.g., family reunions, wedding receptions)
  • Commercial activities or fundraising events

Please treat the Community Room with respect and return the space to its original condition when you leave. While usage of the room is free, fees may be incurred in cases of excessive cleanup, damage to the room, or damage to or loss of equipment.

Capacity Limits

The maximum capacity of the community room is 49 people, and may vary based on room configuration and table setup. Seated, the room can accommodate 25-30 people.
