Reading, MA – Reading Cooperative Bank (RCB) recently gave $500 to help support the 14th Annual Wilmington Half Marathon and 5K Run/Walk. The event is being presented by the Wilmington/Tewksbury Chamber of Commerce and takes place on Sunday, September 23rd, at 10 Waltham Street (WCTV) in Wilmington. The shotgun start for the race is scheduled for 10:00 am and the festivities will run until 2:00 in the afternoon. Event festivities will include music, hot dogs, fruit, ice cream, chamber member booths, raffles and giveaways.
The registration fee for the half-marathon is $35 ($40 on race day). The 5K Run/Walk will have a $20 pre-registration fee ($25 on race day). Registration for students, aged 18 and younger, will be $15. Race day registration begins at 8:00 am. A portion of the proceeds will benefit local scholarships programs.
“Events like this are a great way to bring people into our community and highlight the things that give a town its character and charm,” commented Danny Walbourne, the Branch Manager at Middlesex Ave in Wilmington. “Plus, who can say no to ice cream?”
