RCB to Collaborate with American Red Cross to Host “Sound the Alarm” Fire Safety Training

READING, MA - Reading Cooperative Bank (RCB) is teaming up with the American Red Cross of Massachusetts to offer a one-hour fire safety training course at the RCB operations center. Employees, customers and community members, alike, are being encouraged to attend the course. The presentation will be given by the Red Cross and cover topics such as local hazards, escape plans, how to pack a “go” bag, how to properly install smoke alarms, how to review a fire safety checklist, and how to know if one’s home is secure. In addition, those in the audience will be able to take home up to three smoke alarms.

“This is a marvelous opportunity to gain some basic knowledge and important tips on fire safety”, stated Shanna Cahalane, Vice President and Director of Marketing at RCB. “In light of the recent Sanborn Street tragedy, free community events, such as this one, help to activate local residents who want to take preventative measures and avoid similarly tragic results.”

There are two sessions planned: Monday, June 26th, at 5:30 P.M., and Tuesday, June 27th, at 12:00 P.M. On Tuesday, for those interested, there will also be a one-hour Red Cross volunteer info session at 6:30 P.M. All classes are free and will be held on the 3rd floor training room at 55 Walkers Brook Drive in Reading, MA. RSVP’s can either be emailed to Marketing@readingcoop.com or called in at 781-942-5000.
