Reading, MA – Reading Cooperative Bank (RCB) would like to announce that Derric Souza has been promoted to the position of Assistant Controller. The Assistant Controller is responsible for assisting with general ledger accounting, financial close, and reporting responsibilities. Some of the required tasks include recording transactions, preparing general ledger account reconciliations, and performing expense variance analysis to ensure transactions are accurately recorded. In this role, Derric will be managing the daily/monthly accounting activities, as well as verifying and allocating details of business transactions to subsidiary accounts. He will also assist in the preparation of the audited financials for fiscal year end, balance the bank’s cash position daily, and process all wire transfers. Derric will report to Judy Hildreth, Assistant Treasurer/Controller.
“I’m very excited about this opportunity,” said Souza. “I look forward to the new challenges I will face in this role.”
Preceding the promotion, Derric graduated from the New England School for Financial Studies. He enrolled in the two-year program to enhance his financial acumen and acquire the necessary tools to better navigate today’s changing economic climate.
“Derric’s promotion is well-deserved,” stated Hildreth. “He started three years ago and, since then, has shown a lot of growth, wanting to take on more responsibilities. He is a great asset to our department.”
