Reading Cooperative Bank sponsors EMARC walk to raise money for cause and healthy living

READING, Mass – June 12, 2016 – EMARC will be holding its First Annual Walk: EMARC Walks With You, on Sunday, June 12th 2016 at 10 a.m. at Ipswich River Park-15 Central Street North Reading, in the back walking loop. This unique event will be a self-paced individual and team pledge walk that will be open to the community and will also be accessible to EMARC participants with physical, developmental and intellectual disabilities.

The purpose of this walk is to promote healthy living and to raise funds and awareness for EMARC programs; specifically for EMARC’s new Health and Wellness Initiative. Reading Cooperative Bank serves as the Gold Event Sponsor for this Walk. EMARC’s Director of Development Amy O’Brien says “We are excited about this inclusive event and are grateful to our Gold Sponsors, Reading Cooperative Bank. We know their commitment to healthy living and to the community and thought this would be a perfect partnership. This is an excellent opportunity to have EMARC staff, participants, family members and community partners come together.”

The walker registration fee is $20 per person or $40 per family. T-shirts are available to the first 200 registrants. Currently there are over twenty teams. There will be a brief Awards ceremony after the walk at 12 p.m. Walkers can walk at their leisure as this is a walk, not a race. Strollers and wheelchairs welcome on the paved half-mile walking loop. Event will take place rain or shine. 100% of funds raised will go to EMARC.
